Kazuma Kiryu takes the blame for a crime boss’s murder and spends ten years in prison. When he returns to Kamurocho, the city and its yakuza clans have changed, and he is drawn into a search tied to the clan’s turmoil.
Explore the city and fight street gangs in beat ’em up combat. Kiryu can switch among four fighting styles and use weapons found around the streets; experience points unlock upgrades and additional moves.
Between story missions, take on side stories and explore Kamurocho’s nightlife and entertainment. Activities include karaoke, the arcade, a casino, cabaret club, batting cages and Pocket Circuit racing.
Players who discuss the game often praise its dramatic story and characters, the contrast between serious crime drama and humorous side stories, and the range of city activities. Some also enjoy switching combat styles and the recurring Majima encounters, though those fights and the boss battles are frequent complaints too. Many reviews focus on the legacy version’s delisting and upgrade pricing rather than the game itself.
Kazuma Kiryu takes the fall for a murder and emerges from prison 10 years later to yakuza clans on the brink of a war that hurtles you on an intense journey of love, humanity, and betrayal, fueled by your fists and unyielding resolve, set against a bustling red-light district in modern-day Japan.
